Doc­tors study­ing the ef­fects of fat sham­ing have found vic­tims are “more likely to avoid ex­er­cise and con­sume more calo­ries”. The study also showed that over­weight women who be­lieved neg­a­tive stereo­types, such as be­ing unattrac­tive or lazy, had greater risk of meta­bolic disease and higher lev­els of triglyc­erides, a type of fat that is found in the blood.
