Behind the scenes of Mary Poppins
Disney is in the act of crafting a sequel to its much-loved 1964 children’s classic Mary Poppins, based on the book by Australian P.L. Travers. Currently in production in London, Disney has brought together a stellar cast, including Meryl Streep, Julie Walters, Colin Firth and Emily Blunt as the magical nanny, for Mary Poppins Returns. Even Dick Van Dyke, who starred in the original with Julie Andrews and is now 91, has a role. The new film is set in 1935, during the Great Depression in London, and the now grown-up children are visited by their former nanny following a tragedy. Mary Poppins Returns will come to our screens in 2018.
