Drinking beetroot juice before exercise could help maintain healthy brain function. A study of 26 men and women over the age of 55 found those who completed 50 minutes of light exercise after having a beetroot drink had healthier brain function than those who exercised without it. The nitric oxide in beetroot juice increases blood flow to the brain and when combined with exercise it strengthens parts of the brain, making it appear more youthful and potentially preventing the organ’s decline.
