Could strawberries help ward off breast cancer? While the theory is yet to be tested on humans, research has shown that eating 15 strawberries a day protected female mice against an aggressive form of breast cancer. Scientists fed an extract from the Alba strawberry to female mice with breast cancer tumours and after five weeks on the strawberryboosted diet, the cancer showed no sign of spreading, and in many cases the tumour had shrunk. While it is not known if the same result will be seen in humans, studies have already shown strawberries may reduce blood cholesterol and improve artery health.
