A shining light

- K. LATIMER

I found Judy Bailey’s interview with Carol Hirschfeld very informative and inspirational. Carol’s mother was Maori and her father Pakeha and in 1950s New Zealand they would have endured racism. Carol was ostracised as a young girl too but learned to negate criticism and succeeded in her journalism career. She is now a role model for young Maori women and also enjoys being a mother of her two children, who are also high achievers. Kia kaha Carol. You are a shining light to both Maori and Pakeha New Zealanders.
