Australian Women’s Weekly NZ

Letter of the month

- JOANNA LOWRY

A real pleasure I have just subscribed to The Australian Women’s Weekly for the next year and this time my dear husband has paid for it, as at our age – 80ish – there is not much that we want any more for Christmas. The first time I bought a copy of the magazine was in Sydney in 1962, when we were on our honeymoon! Time has rolled on and I still read it. It’s very special this month [October issue] with Judi Dench on the cover, plus a wonderful article. She is amazing and shares her acting talent with us so readily and with such joy. She is my “twin” nearly! I was widowed in 1999, after 37 years with a very special man, who also died of lung cancer. I am now happily married to another very special man who also was left on his own after losing his wife. So it has been a delight to read of Judi’s life, and I have enjoyed thinking back to the past and recollecting. Thank you so much for giving me such pleasure each month.
