Kate’s new confidence as a mother and future queen

THE HAIR WAS DOWN and the shoes were off as the Duchess of Cambridge and her two eldest children had a happy day out in the sun, watching Prince William play a charity polo match in Gloucestershire. Kate’s relaxed nature with her children was on full display as the trio ran around the polo grounds together, showing great similarities to the kind of mum the late Princess of Wales was. Diana was determined to give her very famous children the most normal upbringing she could, and it appears her daughter-in-law is doing the same.

Kate has always been affectionate with her children and these charming photos give us a rare insight into just how warm and natural a mother she is. There wasn’t even a hint of over-protectiveness, although she knew George and Charlotte were very much on display, which shows how comfortable the Duchess has become in the public eye.

Just two months ago she gave birth to Prince Louis, who was at home with the nanny for the polo day, giving Kate precious quality time with her two eldest children. It’s been a busy few weeks for the Duchess, with high-profile events such as Meghan and Harry’s wedding and Trooping the Colour, however she looked happy and relaxed on a rare public day out.

In the coming months, we’ll see more of Kate with her newborn, as the palace prepares for Louis’ christening, but meanwhile George and Charlotte looked rapt to be the centre of their mum’s attention, as she watched them play and even joined in from time to time. A barefoot Charlotte, three, practised her handstands and played roly-poly down the hill, before collapsing into her mum’s lap, while George, four, raced around with a slinky. The pair also had miniature polo clubs to practise with but, naturally, ended up using them in a swordfight instead.

All in all, it was a perfect family day out – even if it seemed no one was really watching the polo!
