UNTANGLING HAIRCARE

IF YOU LOVE: GENTLE, NOURISHING HAIRCARE TRY: Essano Ocean Minerals Volumising Shampoo & Conditioner, $16 each. Sukin Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner, $19 each.

Removing sulfates (cleansing and lathering agents) and parabens (preservatives) from haircare is becoming relatively standard, but just because you see the ubiquitous “free-from” label, that doesn’t mean a brand is all clean, green and natural. In fact, in haircare it’s often incredibly difficult to distinguish completely clean brands. We suggest doing some research online and reading up about companies’ practices. Reputable natural brands state their ethos and approach clearly and will have ingredients lists freely available. If a technical term seems bamboozling, Google does a good job of breaking it down.
