Folk song con­cert from Ori­ana

Tau­ranga’s Ori­ana Singers present The Sprig of Thyme and other folk songs of the Bri­tish Isles later in June.

Ori­ana Singers pub­lic­ity of­fi­cer Denise Green says the com­mu­nity choir has two sets of con­certs dur­ing the year.

“There’s al­ways va­ri­ety on our con­certs. We try to make them along the lines of pop­u­lar easy lis­ten­ing mu­sic.”

In­cluded in the win­ter con­certs ( held in tu­moetai and Mount Maun­ganui) is John Rut­ter’s The Sprig of Thyme and other folk songs such as The Keel Row, Afton Water and The Cuckoo.

They also sing well- known folk songs such as Danny Boy and Loch Lomond.

The singers are un­der the di­rec­tion of Ka­t­rina Daniela, ac­com­pa­nied by Leon Gray.

Ori­ana Singers bring well known folk songs to this win­ter’s con­cert.
