Birds BOP mem­ber Sonny Davis at­tended a Birds New Zealand youth camp last month and he’ll be singing its praises at their up­com­ing meet­ing.

The bird en­thu­si­ast was spon­sored by the Birds BOP to at­tend the field course for a hands-on ex­pe­ri­ence in han­dling birds and de­vel­op­ing skills in bird ecol­ogy at the Rak­iura/ Stewart Is­land youth camp. Sonny will talk about his ad­ven­tures and re­port on the bird-re­lated ac­tiv­i­ties with plenty of pho­to­graphs.

The meet­ing is at the Tau­ranga His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety hall, be­hind the Brain Watkins House, 233 Cameron Rd on June 13 at 7pm. Gold coin do­na­tion and all are wel­come.

■ Birds BoP is the lo­cal branch of Birds New Zealand, the Or­nitho­log­i­cal So­ci­ety of NZ. Birds New Zealand is about en­joy­ing and study­ing birds. They hold evening meetings, field trips, bird counts and wel­come new mem­bers and visi­tors.
