Great films, a great idea

Bay News - - Front Page - FRONT COVER: Melanie Mills at the Village Cinema.

I remember watching The Big Lebowski nearly 20 years ago.

It blew my mind. Finally, I was able to flexmy film major muscle and talk cinematic genius. I just love it when movies cross over to cult cinema status.

The Big Lebowski was the very first movie of Cult Cinema Club— our very own club for film buffs, which is now into its third season. In themix this time around is crazy horror zombie movie Dawn of the Dead, and poignant classic Casablanca recently screened.

The club is for serious film fans. I love the idea behind this affordable night’s entertainment. Organiser MelanieMills wanted the club to be a complete night out for adults including live music on big nights, independent short movies, a bar and candy bar, socialising and of course her mix of cult cinema and documentaries. The warm and cosy Village Cinema is also a hidden gem at the Historic Village . . . perfect for winter nights.

Another cool event Western Bay of Plenty has to offer.
