Theatre thrives around the Bay

SHREK the Musical is in full promotional swing.

I’ve seen people around town wearing Shrek sweatshirts, sign-written cars (or maybe one car I’ve seen everywhere), social media posts and advertising galore— Shrek the Musical by Stage Right Trust is everywhere.

I spoke to a Shrek sweatshirt-wearing bloke the other day in the makeup aisle of Kmart. Turns out he’s one of the three little pigs and needed some help picking out foundation and eyeliner.

It must be a massive undertaking to put on a show, with such elaborate costuming created from scratch.

All the amateur theatre companies in Tauranga are doing spectacularly well.

The talent, hard work, dedication and the promotional savvy of our theatre community is excellent. Just about all have a show on right now.

They’ve all stepped up to turn Tauranga into a thriving amateur theatre hub and we’re all noticing.
