Country music locals make finals
The 39th New Zealand Country Music Association annual Entertainer of the Year Awards will be held in Tauranga this year and three locals are competing for the top title.
The Western Bay finalists are Neil MacKenzie-Hall (senior, Coastal Country Music Club), Tegan Reid (senior, Coastal Country Music Club) and Rererangi Twaddell (junior, Mount RSA Country Music Club).
The awards have moved from Rotorua to Tauranga and will be held on October 6 at Baycourt.
The awards include a junior, intermediate, senior, veteran section and songwriting section. There are 21 finalists— overall winners from the Pounamu, Auckland, Waikato, Eastern Bay and Muddy River awards— who will battle it out for the title Entertainer of the Year and are in to win prize packages such as international trips and studio time to record.
The kickoff event will be an official welcome for contestants on October 5 at Hotel Armitage.
Saturday’s event is open to the public and includes entertainment from Kaylee Bell and her band. Kaylee is an award winning country pop singersongwriter and guitarist from Waimate with 10 Top 10 singles
on the Australian Country Music charts.
Also performing are the 2017 NZ Country Music Entertainer of the Year winners Double Blend, Doug Erutoe, Jaydin Shingleton and Serenity Grace.
