E Bikes are hot right now
E-bikes offer the freedom of cycling without all the effort of pushing pedals.
But Hot E Bikes offer so much more.
Colin Downs is importing the USA designed, China manufactured bikes that meet the requisite New Zealand standard.
‘‘The first shipment proved to be so successful, we have another shipment arriving at the end of September,’’ he says.
The Hot E bikes are easy to learn how to ride, are well balanced, relatively light and are ergonimically designed for comfort and performance.
While many e-bikes have mid-bike mounted motors, between the pedals, the Hot EBike’s motor is in the rear hub. It means that even if the chain fails, you can still get power to the rear wheel and can get home without having to push the bike.
The bike is powered by a 36 volt, 250 watt motor, has great brakes and safety features such as flashing lights and brightly colour frames.
The Hot E Bike is a 21 speed bike with the motor, frame and forks all manufactured by the same company to ensure they are all compatible, giving them a sturdiness that means they can be used for road or trail riding.
Colin says he is keen to promote e-bikes as a means of reducing road congestion and would like to see businesses invest in Hot E Bikes for staff to help make this happen.
He is also hoping to organise a demonstration day in Tauranga for potential customers, businesses and transport planners to see the benefits of the Hot E Bike.
The bikes can be seen and bought from Twisted Cycles on Devonport Rd in Tauranga.
