Look­ing for top tal­ent for TEDx

IF you think you have the X-fac­tor, you could be the en­ter­tain­ment at ama­jor event in­Tau­ranga next year.

Tal­ents of ev­ery kind are in­vited to ap­ply to be one of three en­ter­tain­ment acts at the TEDx Tau­ranga 2019 event in June.

The even­twill be a night of food, en­ter­tain­ment, en­light­en­ment and 11 speak­ers.

TEDx is a non­profit run by vol­un­teers who hope to bet­ter the world.

The phi­los­o­phy is of “ideas worth spread­ing” through short, pow­er­ful talks.

The talks re­late to tech­nol­ogy, en­ter­tain­ment and de­sign (TED).

The TEDx ex­pe­ri­ence will be in June, 2019 and speak­ers and en­ter­tain­ment are be­ing sought.

Li­censee Shel­donNes­dale says they are look­ing for three acts af­ter each 90-minute ses­sion at the event and the more var­ied, the bet­ter. “Any­thing goes,” Shel­don says. En­ter­tain­ers in the past— next year will be their sixth event— have in­cluded kapa haka, per­cus­sion drums, chil­dren’s choirs, po­etry and even a hoola-hooper.

Ap­pli­cants can sub­mit a video be­fore De­cem­ber 9 and if called back, will per­form at a live demo day at To­tara St.

Freddy Matariki Carr com­bined rhyth­mic hoop gym­nas­tics with mod­ern dance and two hoops at the last TEDx Tau­ranga event.
