Bay News - - NEWS - Rebecca Mauger Senior reporter

This week’s Bay News has the cute factor with three stories on early childcare facilities doing great things in the community.

First up is our lead story about Te Puna Kindergarten who came up with the idea of creating a cookbook with lots of scrummy recipes contributed from families. The name of the book is Grounded in Goodness and there is a real emphasis on healthy ingredients. It’s a fundraiser for their new building and is hot off the press and ready for distribution.

We have also acknowledged the effort made by Otumoetai Playcentre families who were recently recognised as being 92 per cent waste free. It’s more than just recycling for this playcentre— they have some implemented some clever ways of keeping waste down.

Lastly, we have a little story on Toi Ohomai Childcare Centre who are having a fun open day this weekend to celebrate 30 years as a centre.
