ORAKEI SERVICE AWARD
New Zealand Lagoon dealer Orakei Marine received the “Best Customer Service, Overseas” award for 2017 at the recent Lagoon dealer meeting in Bordeaux, France.
The accolade was totally unexpected, says Orakei Marine MD Jason Snashall, who credits his staff, specifically Tom Van Praagh, boatbuilders Blair Clarke and Jordan Pretty and apprentices Dan Purchase and Sam Springett, with the win.
The award stems from work undertaken by the team on a 52-foot Lagoon delivered new to its German owners in Bordeaux. It then sailed to New Zealand via the Caribbean and Pacific ( Boating NZ, June 2017).
The owners encountered a few warranty-related issues on the way and became increasingly frustrated with shipping delays and the difficulty of finding technicians to work on the boat. By the time they reached New Zealand, says Jason, their relationship with Lagoon was somewhat strained.
But staff at Orakei Marine sorted it out, says Jason: “They entertained the family, found spares and attended to all the warranty claims. We got in the middle between Lagoon and the family and made the connection.”
