Most Romantic Proposal Winners

Winners – Danny & Amee

Bride & Groom - - CONTENTS -

We were overwhelmed with the number of touching stories we received in our search for New Zealand’s most romantic proposal, and we are delighted to share with you the gorgeous winning entry from Danny and Amee, and those of our five runners-up…

Queenstown has always been a special place for Amee so I decided it was the perfect place to propose to her. On a typical Saturday morning, I told Amee I was going to soccer training, but I’d actually packed my bags and was on my way to Queenstown! Hayley (Amee’s best friend) was instructed to head over to our house in the afternoon and take her to the airport.

While Amee and Hayley were on their way, I booked into a beautiful apartment with views of the mountains and lake. Hayley’s boyfriend, Charles, came with me to help set up the proposal, and we quickly began hanging 99 origami butterflies from the ceiling.

These butterflies mean a lot to Amee – it was the first gift I gave her, so they are the symbol of our relationship. The 99 butterflies took over four months to make – I had to rush home every day after work to fold the butterflies before Amee came home. I thought I would make these butterflies extra special for the proposal, so on each butterfly I wrote a reason why I thought she should marry me.

I turned on the fireplace to fill the place with warmth and to set a romantic scene, and before long I could hear Amee’s footsteps walking down the stairs. She appeared looking beautiful as always, and I could see the surprise and happiness on her face as she walked towards me. I held her hands and looked directly into her eyes. As I said my speech and got down on one knee, I pulled out a custom-made ring. I could see tears streaming down her face as she burst out a massive ‘Yes!’ We walked around the room reading the reasons on each butterfly, including some funny ones that made Amee laugh.

Amee and Danny have won $4000 worth of exquisite designer jewellery from Angela Daniels Jewellery, plus his and hers fragrances from Viktor & Rolf. Our five runners-up also receive fragrances.
