The finishing touches

It’s the little things that will have your guests fondly remembering your wedding for years to come. Consider handwriting a personalised message on each of your place cards, detailing your favourite memory of that guest or what they mean to you. Display boards or slideshows featuring treasured photos of your loved ones add a personal and sentimental touch to your reception area, and are sure to be a talking point amongst your attendees.

Interactive guest books are also popular – get your friends and family to take Polaroid photos for your book, or opt for something completely different and hand out a piece of a jigsaw puzzle or Jenga game for each guest to write their congratulations on.

Finally, when planning your decorations, consider all areas of your reception venue. A bathroom filled with scented candles, flowers and adornments is sure to impress, as is a cosy outdoor area with heaters, blankets and beanbags – you may even like to hire a professional barista to serve coffee in this dedicated chill-out zone.
