How can Cambridge prepare for future population growth into a city without losing its village feel? That’s one of the questions being tackled by a Growth Strategy Committee, which will work with the business community and the council on how to keep the town’s unique appeal but still allow for development. Housing development has already outstripped predictions with demand for more housing still strong. Our reporter Mike Bain speaks to some of the movers and shakers to explain the planning put in to guide the town’s future. On a lighter but certainly interesting note, reporter Emma James has a story about a Cambridge man who owns a bicycle with an interesting history. It was once ridden by Sir Edmund Hillary and is now on display for all to see in Cambridge. Emma also has a story on a colourful Cambridge man who has just scored his own television show. Owen Boynton will visit rural NZ discovering the hunting, fishing and brushcraft features of each region.
