Girls selected as circus dancers
A group of young Waikato dancers has been selected to perform at an international circus in Hamilton.
Five girls from KS School of Dance in Cambridge will be performing at Weber Bros Circus, which has returned to New Zealand after touring South Africa, Asia and Australia.
Dance teacher Kellie Schroer said it will be a whole new experience for the girls.
‘‘When I was approached to provide dancers for the circus I thought what a fantastic opportunity for my pupils, we have to take this,’’ she said.
Lauren Voyle, Xanthe McHarg, Kira Morrison, Rhiannon Thomas and Ella Burke have had two weeks to learn the choreography.
‘‘The girls still have their normal school and study hours, so they have been doing this on top of that.
‘‘There have been some long rehearsals and late nights but the girls have loved every moment and can’t wait to put the costumes and make up on and perform,’’ said Schroer.
‘‘I think they are going to be great, I know they won’t let me down or the circus down.’’
Schroer has known the Weber family for more than 15 years, and was excited to provide them with dancers.
Circus performers Kiarnna and Americus Weber have been these girls feel the same amazement when they step on stage,’’ she said.
Weber Bros circus is based in New Zealand and the family stays on the outskirts of Cambridge when they aren’t touring.
The show runs from Wednesday, March 15 to Sunday, March 26.
Tickets are available from iticket.co.nz or 027 CIRCUS.
Kiarnna Weber, Lauren Voyle, Kira Morrison, Xanthe Mcharg and Rhiannon Thomas will be dancing for Weber Bros Circus.
