A family escaped unhurt from a fire which engulfed a Mt Roskill home last week.
The Housing New Zealand property on Carr Rd was gutted in the blaze at 1pm on Tuesday.
A couple and their threeyear-old nephew were home when the fire began in a bedroom.
They say they discovered the fire after smelling smoke from the room.
They began a frantic search for the boy, but he was found safe in another part of the house.
Fire Service station officer Frank Walsh says the fire was well alight when crews arrived.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
