Arson attacks destroy cars and garages

Central Leader - - News -

Two garages were burned down in separate arson attacks in the past fortnight.

Two cars were gutted in a suspicious fire at an Epsom property during the early hours of last Tuesday morning.

Accelerants may have been used in the blaze, says fire safety officer Russell Dickson.

“Samples have been taken to ESR to confirm,” he says.

The Fire Service was called after a neighbour spotted the flames. Firefighters were able to confine the blaze to the carport.

In a separate incident, a garage was deliberately set alight in Gifford Ave, Mt Roskill, on May 29.

Mr Dickson says the slowburning fire was lit at the back of the building, out of sight of residents.
