I support Lisa Sloan’s article in the Central Leader, “Mt Albert slum fear”, May 30.
Every morning I take my guide dog Noble down the ramp through the train station complex and find people sleeping on the premises and graffiti taggers, upon hearing us, disappear promptly.
Also, along the main shopping footpath on rubbish collection days my guide dog has to shunt the wheelie bins aside before we can pass. In addition to this the food scraps and rubbish deposited haphazardly by shop occupants is a public disgrace.
It is high time all those authorities charged with looking after the health and safety of our citizens took some proactive action.
Mt Albert nothing less. BILL PIKE Mt Albert
