Taking the lead
A comedian, charity boss and sports legend were among those honoured in the 2008 Sir Peter Blake Leadership Awards.
Sir Murray Halberg, 75, received the Blake Medal for his contribution to athletics and people with disabilities.
The Epsom resident was recognised for his lifetime’s work helping disabled children take part in sport through the Halberg Trust.
Three Aucklanders were also among emerging leader award winners, including Julie Helson, general manager of the KidsCan charitable trust.
Funktion Music managing director Rebecca Caughey and bro’Town star Oscar Kightley also won awards.
The awards were established by the Sir Peter Blake Trust in 2005.
