Breast is best Plunket message
Plunket is recommending ways to help breastfeeding mums give babies the best start.
This week is World Breastfeeding Week, a global initiative celebrating and promoting breastfeeding.
Plunket clinical adviser Allison Jamieson says a supportive environment is vital for breastfeeding mums.
“Each one of us can find a way to play our part, especially partners, whanau, friends and employers, by offering to do the laundry, shopping, cook a meal or look after older children.
“This support will help mum to relax and focus on feeding baby.”
Mothers gathered in Auckland today for a world record attempt for the most mothers breastfeeding simultaneously. Events were held this morning at Orakei marae and in Pt Chevalier at the Mud Pie Deli.
