The most capped Kiwis league player of all time is to be celebrated at a testimonial lunch.

The 55-test and 300-game NRL veteran Ruben Wiki will be honoured at a lunch at the Ellerslie Convention Centre on August 26.

League ambassador Peter “The Mad Butcher” Leitch will host the event and says he is proud to be supporting such a great player.

“Ruben is a fantastic player who has been a great servant to the game but more importantly he is a genuine man who puts others ahead of himself,” Leitch says.

“Ever since I have known him he has never turned down a request for help or refused to get involved with supporting a cause I’ve needed help with.”

Leitch says it’s important people realise the lunch is for individuals, not just corporates.

“Single tickets are available so ordinary fans can take part too, because that’s the way Ruben would want it.”

Single tickets cost $170 plus GST, but tables of 10 can be bought at $1500 plus GST.

“Perhaps the best way is for fans to get together with their mates and buy tables to drop the price,” he says.
