Aotea Square plan improved
More than 1000 submissions have been received on the proposed upgrade of Aotea Square.
Draft designs for the $25 million project were released by the Auckland City Council last month.
The council’s urban design panel, who were critical of an earlier draft, have considered the latest plan.
The panel say their comments have been well-addressed and the plan is a good framework for more detailed design.
Members also strongly recommended a groundlevel water feature, such as a series of fountain jets.
Feedback from the public will be reported to the arts, culture and recreation committee meeting on August 27.
