Focus on Asian health
A conference next month will focus on health issues of the Asian community in New Zealand.
Auckland University’s Centre for Asian Health Research and Evaluation will host the third International Asian Health and Wellbeing Conference on September 8 and 9.
Local and oversease academics and health workers will attend.
Centre director Dr Samson Tse says many studies have found different Asian ethnicities may be more at risk to certain diseases.
“The popular belief is that the Asian population is doing well, but that is only half the story,” he says.
The conference will run a photo essay competition on healthy action in the Asian community.
