Rude awak­en­ing in the dead of the night

When a loud bang woke Paul Kelly at 3am, the last thing he ex­pected to find was a car hold­ing up his mas­ter bed­room.

The stolen car took out the struc­tural sup­port hold­ing up his bal­cony and bed­room, com­ing to rest wedged un­der the house.

“Luck­ily we were el­e­vated. It prob­a­bly saved us re­ally,” he says.

The car was in­volved in a short po­lice pur­suit on Mon­day which started on Do­min­ion Rd when of­fi­cers tried to pull the ve­hi­cle over.

The ve­hi­cle stopped on Cromwell St, where the driver fled and one passenger was ap­pre­hended by po­lice.

An­other passenger took the wheel and sped off, even­tu­ally crash­ing into Mr Kelly’s San­dring­ham Rd house, where po­lice caught him.
