Rude awakening in the dead of the night
When a loud bang woke Paul Kelly at 3am, the last thing he expected to find was a car holding up his master bedroom.
The stolen car took out the structural support holding up his balcony and bedroom, coming to rest wedged under the house.
“Luckily we were elevated. It probably saved us really,” he says.
The car was involved in a short police pursuit on Monday which started on Dominion Rd when officers tried to pull the vehicle over.
The vehicle stopped on Cromwell St, where the driver fled and one passenger was apprehended by police.
Another passenger took the wheel and sped off, eventually crashing into Mr Kelly’s Sandringham Rd house, where police caught him.
Mr Kelly and his wife were asleep in the room when he heard a giant crash.
