More than 1600 volunteers from around Auckland are needed to collect for Blind Week
The Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind is hoping to raise over $1.1 million between October 28 and November 3.
Around one third of the foundation’s $26 million budget comes from government sources, which leaves $17.3 million to raise themselves.
Regional fundraising head Dianne Armstrong says people who choose to volunteer will be making a real difference to the lives of visionimpaired New Zealanders.
The foundation gives blind, deafblind and vision-impaired people the skills to do everyday things, like getting from home to work, cooking dinner or surfing on the internet.
