Governance report delayed
Commissioners have been granted more time to report on what Prime Minister Helen Clark calls the “complex jigsaw” of Auckland governance.
The Royal Commission into Auckland Governance will report back at the end of March instead of December 1.
Prime Minister Helen Clark says the workload has been greater than expected.
“Since April, the commission has received more than 3500 submissions and conducted hearings for 27 days in nine locations throughout Auckland,” she says.
“ The commission has undertaken a signifi - cant task and intends to obtain expert and peer reviews for aspects of its report, so it’s not surprising that further time will be needed.”
