How the grad­ings work:

Gold A: Ver y high level of com­pli­ance and demon­stra­tion of food safety best prac­tice – cur­rently held by 73 out­lets in Au ck­land

A: High level of com­pli­ance with the reg­u­la­tions – 3156 out­lets

B: Moderate level of com­pli­ance – 413 out­lets

D: Not achiev­ing a sat­is­fac­tor y level of com­pli­ance , and/ or faults from a pre­vi­ous in­spec­tion – 47

E: Se­ri­ous de­fi­cien­cies in the level of com­pli­ance – 20

There is no C grade to avoid it be­ing seen as a “ pass­ing grade”.
