Beware of balding bagsnatcher
Police are warning women to be vigilant after a bagsnatcher struck five times in Auckland.
The incidents occurred in eastern suburbs and Greenlane.
In each case, the women victims on their own were approached by the man either in a car or on foot.
He asked some women for directions or the time before grabbing their bags and fleeing. One woman was threatened with a claw hammer.
Police believe the offender is using a car stolen from Grey Lynn last Friday afternoon, a silver 2001 Mazda 626 GLX sedan.
The Pakeha man is described as 35 to 40 years old and of medium build with tanned skin and short, lightbrown hair.
He has a receding hairline, discoloured teeth and a tattoo on his upper left arm.
