Waimarie Round Dance Club founder Ray Mason has been offered a helping hand after his 249 dancing records were stolen, forcing him to close down the club.
A Sandringham woman read about Mr Mason’s plight in the Central Leader and rang to offer him her record collection.
“It’s all the oldies. I’m 89 and they are from when I was young. We thought they were marvellous,” says the woman, who did not want to be named.
She says the records are all in their original covers.
Mr Mason was delighted by the offer of help.
“I was taken aback. If she has some of the titles we use on the dance floor, I’ll ask to have them.”
His records, turntable, speakers and microphones were in his car when it was stolen from an Onehunga carpark on September 10.
