Women around the country are being urged to prepare for the country’s most popular women’s duathlon, the noncompetitive Sparc Real Women’s Duathlon Series.
The upcoming 10event series will be the third and is a growing event that has seen 12,000 women become duathletes.
Many had not previously been active in sports.
Duathlon director Jane Patterson says together with Sport and Recreation New Zealand organisers aim to help ordinary women “to experience the thrill that personal achievement in a sport can bring, no matter what level the individual plays at”.
“Real stands for Regular Exercise, Active Lives and we hope it will be the motto that women adopt for a lifetime.”
This year Ambury Farm Park in Manukau will be used twice during the series.
Women are being urged to make it a double and improve their times and confidence.
Registrations are open and the Auckland events are being held at Orewa on February 15 and at Ambury Farm on March 1 and May 3.
