A 24-hour bridge marathon has raised more than $4540 for Alzheimers Auck­land.

The marathon was or­gan­ised by the Royle Ep­som Bridge Club and be­gan at 6pm on Oc­to­ber 17.

Through­out the 24hour pe­riod, there were eight bridge ses­sions, each ses­sion of al­most three hours du­ra­tion.

One hun­dred and forty-one play­ers par­tic­i­pated and for $20 they could play as many or as few ses­sions as they wished.

Alzheimers Auck­land was cho­sen as the char­ity be­cause many peo­ple learn to play the game of bridge to keep their mind ac­tive.
