Students have good cause to don pink
They may have been raising money for a serious disease, but students at Mt Albert Grammar looked bright and cheery last month.
The school held a pink and yellow fundraiser to support people living with cancer.
Students dressed up in an array of different pink and yellow clothing and made gold coin dona- tions to the cause, raising a total of $7300.
Pink and Yellow Day was organised by year 13 students Sarah Graham, Katherine Reynolds and Rachael Chappell.
Sarah says it was a fun and alternative way to raise money.
“Everyone really got into it and participated,” she says.
“Mt Albert Grammar have always raised money for cancer and a Fluoro Day fundraiser to support cancerstricken student Sally Ainley last year was a great success.
Katherine says it is important for people to do what they can for cancer.
“It’s relevant to all of us,” she says. “Everyone knows someone who is affected.”
The money raised was donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation and CanTeen.
