One­hunga’s champ cho­sen

Com­pe­ti­tion was fierce for the ti­tle of One­hunga High School’s sports per­son of the year at the school’s se­nior awards cer­e­mony last week.

Multi-tal­ented Jamie Os­borne came away with the prize at a cer­e­mony last Wed­nes­day.

Jamie was crowned school ath­let­ics champ on the school’s ath­let­ics day, tak­ing out a num­ber of events.

She has also played four years of first 11 foot­ball, in­clud­ing some time as cap­tain, and has been in the Three Kings premier side.

Jamie re­ceives a se­lec­tion of sports equip­ment as a re­ward for her win.

Top hockey player Belinda Smith, who has rep­re­sented Auck­land in the un­der-18 girls team, was among the fi­nal­ists.

And first 15 rugby cap­tain Cameron Rodger, who was se­lected for the Auck­land un­der-18 secondary schools side, was also up for the award.
