Fulbright scholarship a big achievement
Mt Roskill resident Jessica Rodrigues has been ranked among some of the best students in the world.
The Auckland University bachelor of technology graduate has won a Fulbright science and technology award.
Jessica is one of 40 students internationally to be chosen for the scholarship, which will allow her to study for a PhD in the United States.
She hopes to go to California to research the biotechnology potential of plants and microbes.
Fulbright scholarships are awarded to graduate students in science, technology or engineering by the US government.
They cover full tuition for three years of doctorate study, plus a return airfare to the US and allowances for books, equipment, research and conference attendance.
