Make revamp cost- effective
I live near Eden Park and strongly agree with the opinions of the Eden Albert Community Board and other concerned residents, in your article on the proposed Sandringham Rd changes.
I hope the Auckland City Council does follow through with considering common sense alternatives.
Why use the bulk of the $22 million Eden Park Precinct budget for non-urgent works?
The council’s proposal to remove or demolish residential 1 homes for a link lane should never have been an option, and I’m surprised that the concept and design work has been allowed to progress this far.
I would like to see only necessary, cost-effective changes to Sandringham Rd, and the savings invested in new footpaths, safer street lighting and power undergrounding for the streets surrounding Eden Park.
These improvements would be beneficial for world cup visitors, and offer long-term benefit to local residents and the community. SHONA WILKINSON
