Auction a big boost for music centre
A charity auction has raised more than $150,000 for the Raukatauri Music Centre, which provides music programmes for special needs children.
Top items auctioned were a Mazda 2 customised by fashion designers Stitch Ministry, which fetched $20,000, and a private acoustic performance by Bic Runga, which went for $18,000.
Among the evening’s performers were Hollie Smith and the Mt Roskill Primary School choir, Hinewehi Mohi with Joel and Nathan Haines, Elemeno P, Supergroove and Opshop.
The trust needs to raise $400,000 each year to keep running.
