A new bright purple Starbus is helping Auckland’s children.

Launched by NZ Bus, it celebrates the company’s commitment to Starship Children’s Health and its sponsorship of New Zealand’s only child-dedicated intensive care unit.

It covers central Auckland to get children and their families to the hospital for ap- pointments. The first Starbus was launched in March on the North Shore.

NZ Bus has been a Starship Foundation sponsor since 2001 and has helped support the country’s only air retrieval service which has helped hundreds of young children a year who need to be airlifted to the ICU.

Medical experts who keep critically ill children stable in the air have been trained through NZ Bus funding.

NZ Bus northern region general manager Warren Fowler says the company has contributed more than $1 million towards specialist medical equipment and to train nurses to use it.
