Bat­tle at the top

Mt Al­bert Ram­blers and Auck­land United are bat­tling it out at the top of the Auck­land fast­pitch soft­ball com­pe­ti­tion.

Ram­blers over­came Otahuhu 5-0 at the week­end, without Black­sox Donny Hale, Michael Cameron and Thomas Cameron.

But United con­tin­ued their winning ways, out­class­ing North­cote 10-3 af­ter beat­ing Otahuhu 5-4 in the first game of a dou­ble-header.

Eden-Roskill edged out How­ick 1-0 in a tie- breaker, be­fore fal­ter­ing against North­cote 11-1.

And Marist took out Roost­ers and Glen­field 7-2 and 9-1 re­spec­tively.

The pre­vi­ously un­beaten Ram­blers women’s team lost to Marist 6-3, while Metro beat How­ick 7-0.

To­mor­row Ram­blers face the Roost­ers at Rosedale Park, Eden Roskill face Glenora at Phyl­lis St and Marist play Auck­land United at Sim­son Re­serve.

The women play Metro at War­ren Freer Park.
