Man jailed for two sexual attacks
A man who raped a woman and sexually violated another has been sentenced to eight years and three months in prison.
Tapuatua Hiomai Onaariki, 21, of no fixed abode, was sentenced for the crimes in the Auckland High Court on February 23.
He was sentenced on two counts of rape and four counts of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection for the two offences.
The first crime happened at 1.30am on August 30, 2007, when he pulled a 19-year-old woman into Albert Park and sexually as- saulted her. She managed to escape and report it to police.
On October 6, 2007, Onaariki attacked and raped an 18-yearold Northland student in Myers Park. He has been sentenced to a minimum non-parole period of four-and-a-half years.
