Police call for witnesses

Central Leader - - News -

Police are appealing for witnesses to the death of a four-year-old boy who was struck by a car on Carr Rd in Mt Roskill.

Feterika Lawrence Su’a-Roebeck was hit around 8.30pm last Wednesday, and died at the scene.

Carr Rd was closed between Hayr Rd and Hillsborough Rd for several hours.

Sergeant Matt Ford of the serious crash unit says the investiga- tion is still in its early stages and police would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident happen.

He says it’s too early to tell whether the driver, who stayed at the scene, will face any charges.

At this point, evidence suggests the boy ran out in front of or between parked vehicles and into the path of the westbound car.

His home was on the opposite side of the road and Mr Ford says it appears the child may have been dropped off by one of the parked vehicles when he ran into the road, although it has yet to be confirmed.

Feterika was the fifth of eight children. His funeral was held on Monday.

Police have held off on the investigation to give the family time to grieve.

Anyone with information can contact Mr Ford on 359-3111.
