Pets find new homes

Hundreds of unwanted pets found love on Valentine’s Day at the SPCA’s adopt-a-thon.

The Auckland SPCA was part of a nationwide campaign, which saw nearly 500 cats and dogs go to new homes.

Thousands of people flocked to the 18 shelters around the country to meet the animals and many made on-the-spot adoptions.

The website www.sec ondchance, set up in conjunction with the adopt-a-thon, invites anyone who has opened their hearts to a homeless animal to share their story and inspire others to follow their example.

The first 50 people to submit a photo and short story get a free bag of Hill’s Science Diet food.

All stories submitted go into a draw for a year’s supply of the food and Hill’s will donate $1000 to the winner’s choice of SPCA centre.

Visitors to www.sec ondchanceforlove. co. nz can also make a donation to the SPCA.
