Mt Roskill’s Wes­ley Com­mu­nity Cen­tre hosted the Com­put­ers in Homes grad­u­a­tion last Tues­day for the 13 Auck­land fam­i­lies from refugee back­grounds who fin­ished the course.

The fam­i­lies were pro­vided with a com­puter and in­ter­net ac­cess along with train­ing, skills and sup­port to use the tech­nol­ogy to help them to ad­just to New Zealand life.

Com­put­ers in Homes brings in­for­ma­tion and com­mu­ni­ca­tion tech­nol­ogy to low-in­come com­mu­ni­ties and fam­i­lies with a refugee back- ground, al­low­ing par­ents and grand­par­ents to con­nect with their chil­dren’s learn­ing and the wider com­mu­nity.

The grad­u­a­tion was at­tended by Re­gional Refugee Ed­u­ca­tion Min­is­ter Abra­ham Mamer and Na­tional list MP Jackie Blue.
