Ac­tors wanted for the­atre

A New Zealand In­dian the­atre com­pany is looking for new tal­ent to star in its new home­grown play.

Prayas has per­formed sev­eral pro­fes­sional pro­duc­tions in the last three years and has writ­ten its own play about the mi­grant ex­pe­ri­ence in New Zealand.

Called Khoj, which means “the search”, it ex­plores a mi­grant’s emo­tional and phys­i­cal jour­ney from Mum­bai in In­dia to San­dring­ham in Auck­land.

It is in­spired by nov­el­ist Ro­hin­ton Mistry’s Tales from Firozsha Baag and uses hu­mour to high­light the is­sues most mi­grants face all over the world.

Prayas is plan­ning to stage the play, which will be per­formed in English, in Au­gust. It is looking for ac­tors be­tween 20 and 50 years old and peo­ple in­ter­ested in set de­sign­ing, cos­tume and makeup, back stage help as well as mu­sic and dance.
