Actors wanted for theatre
A New Zealand Indian theatre company is looking for new talent to star in its new homegrown play.
Prayas has performed several professional productions in the last three years and has written its own play about the migrant experience in New Zealand.
Called Khoj, which means “the search”, it explores a migrant’s emotional and physical journey from Mumbai in India to Sandringham in Auckland.
It is inspired by novelist Rohinton Mistry’s Tales from Firozsha Baag and uses humour to highlight the issues most migrants face all over the world.
Prayas is planning to stage the play, which will be performed in English, in August. It is looking for actors between 20 and 50 years old and people interested in set designing, costume and makeup, back stage help as well as music and dance.
Auditions will be held on March 21 between 4pm and 7.30pm at the Mt Roskill War Memorial Hall on May Rd. Visit www.prayas.co.nz.
