PM to open rebuilt college
A revamped One Tree Hill College and its art collection will be opened by Prime Minister John Key on Friday.
Mr Key will unveil a plaque celebrating the $15 million rebuilding of the college, formerly known as Penrose High School.
That will coincide with significant changes for the school, including new facilities, a growing student roll and the rehanging of its world-class art collection.
The $1.8m collection includes works by Colin McCahon, Gretchen Albrecht, WA Sutton, Patrick Hanly, Robin White and Ralph Hotere.
The rehanging of the collection will be celebrated on Friday evening with a ticket-only cocktail party.
Organiser Graeme Hunt says about 150 tickets have been sold so far and the school is hoping for at least 250 people on the night.
Tina Cross will entertain.
Tickets are $50. To book email gswest@onetreehill college.school.nz.
